Commercial Bamboo Shoot

There are 14 Malaysian commercial bamboos available for shoots and culm production. The commercial bamboo species meant for shoot production are Dendrocalamus asper, Gigantochloa levis, Gigantochloa ligulata, Gigantochloa spp. and Thyrsostachys spp. All these species are planted in the village areas in the country. The supply of these shoots are still lacking due to the absent of large scale bamboo plantation for shoot production.
